Nokia Lumia 800/900 voted “The most beautiful in the land”

The Nokia Lumia 800 and 900 are two pretty good looking handsets, and have been called a breath of fresh air in the smartphone industry.  The handsets just won an online poll at Switzerland’s biggest newspaper, 20min.ch, collecting more than 6000 votes, placing it well ahead of the Samsung Galaxy S3, iPhone 4S and HTC One X.
Of course the win is well deserved – the Samsung Galaxy S3, despite its likely popularity, has been called ugly and “designed by lawyers” by many, and the Nokia Lumia 800 and 900 has won numerous wards, including a Design Award from Good Design Australia,  where they note:
The Nokia Lumia 800 is a completely new smartphone design aesthetic combining beautifully crafted hardware with a well-conceived user interface.
The first product from the alliance between Nokia and Microsoft’s R&D teams, it demonstrates the heights both companies have gone to produce a standout smartphone that is classy, incredibly satisfying to use, fast and coherent.
Every feature of the phone, either physical or digital, is driven solely by the end user experience. Nokia has focused on the essentials – design and simplicity, while ensuring the highest-possible build and reception quality.
In Switzerland one of the readers echo this sentiment, saying:
The Lumia 800 not only looks beautiful but is also very good in the hand. Good looks and good ergonomics is "good design.”
